The Gulf Coast does not lack in activities for people of all ages all year. We may spend all summer at the beach but when things start winding down for the fall season, what more is there to do? Whether you’re traveling solo, having a family reunion, or a group trip with friends, there are a number of ways to unleash your creativity and have a blast doing it. Here are some of our favorite ways to get creative along the coast.
The Shard Shop may not sound like it’s going to be a pleasant experience but it is! At this adorable gallery in Grayton Beach you can make your own unique art with painting and glass pieces. Hand-dyed glass shards are added to a pre-painted canvas and covered with resin by an onsite technician for pick up the next day. Make a beautiful glass canvas to hang in your home! Classes are available most days and kids over 6 can join as well.
Fired Up is located in the heart of beautiful Seaside and is a fun place for pottery painting! Choose a piece of over 400 items starting at $20 and start designing your masterpiece. You can get ideas from the Inspiration Station and choose from stamps and stencils to add to your own work. You can also grab some friends to pick out some pottery and supplies and have a painting party back at your 30A rentals.
Over in Gulf Place on 30A, get inspired from the 30A community. 8 very talented artists have galleries at the center of Gulf Place with their incredible work on display. From blown glass creations to amazing beach photography and great 30A gear, there’s a little of everything. Check the calendar for updates on classes you can attend to make beach signs, sea glass art, and jewelry.
Watercolor has the Blue Giraffe, a charming shop owned by a mother/daughter team with a variety of ways to get creative. License Plate Art is a unique way to be artsy and you can take home a fun memento or gift decorated by license plate pieces. Purchase a ShardWorx Art Kit and make your own 8x10 crushed glass on canvas creation. There are even more options at the gallery to explore.
One thing is for sure, there are tons of ways to have some artistic fun on your beach vacation. Grab some friends and book a class or pick up supplies to have your own craft party. The Gulf Coast is gorgeous and you can find inspiration everywhere you look. Create a sunset masterpiece or a mermaid collage and have the perfect souvenir of your coastal trip.
